The past several weeks we’ve removed a ton of overgrown material and dirt from the parking lot and curb areas under the West Seattle Bridge, most recently with the help of SDOT and Nucor Steel. It’s tough work but it’s looking amazing where we’ve removed the invasives and then the dirt.

Earlier this year we did a massive series removing butterfly bush and blackberry along East Marginal from the West Seattle Bridge to where Hwy 99 comes down and connects with East Marginal Way to the south of the bridge. We’ll revisit where we left off and see what needs addressing.

We were invited to host a table at Vashon High School’s Community Service Fair this year. Each year VHS students are required to complete a minimum of 25 hours of community service with a regional non-profit. We got connected with VHS through Lewis, our Youth Ambassador over the summer, who donated his time towards ACA work for the years he was a Vashon student.

Group member Melissa reached out about doing another cleanup with folks from her work at Docusign. We’ll have an afternoon event starting at South Park Plaza, and spread out in all directions into the heart of South Park. There should be plenty of picking up and Sprucing work to do.
